BLUE TRACK — pirogue tracking
A platform for small-scale fishing: real-time GPS tracking of pirogues, marine map, marine weather and safety alerts for fishers and coordinators.
Public prototype (Pirogue Smart)
In Senegal, small-scale fishing faces risks at sea and pressure from oil and gas activity. The NGO Wagadu Africa runs the Blue Track programme to protect fishers and marine resources.
Give fishers, organisations and coordinators a dependable tool: know where the pirogues are, get warned before the weather turns, keep trip history — on a service that stays up.

Technical implementation
Web application
React and TypeScript with Vite and Tailwind CSS; interface tailored to each role (fisher, organisation, administrator), bilingual FR/EN.
API and data
Django REST API; PostgreSQL with the PostGIS extension for positions, trips and zones; JWT authentication.
Map and real time
Interactive marine map, safety zones, position sharing, alert centre with acknowledgement and an SOS button.
GPS beacons
Integration of a third-party GPS platform (Totarget) to bring in vessel positions.
Deployment
Docker containers on a dedicated Linux server.
- I designed and built the web app (React, TypeScript) and the API (Django, PostgreSQL/PostGIS).
- I implemented real-time GPS tracking, the marine map, fleet management, marine weather and alerts.
- I defined the roles — fisher, organisation (GIE), administrator — and REST/JWT authentication.
